The Dream

I find myself in a warm inner room with a stone-surround fireplace. A bright fire glows at the center—comforting, alive. Oddly, all the electrical outlets sit high up on the walls, as though they belong to another level of being. Suddenly, the wall opposite the fire begins to move inward. It isn’t just shifting—it’s encroaching. I go to inform the king.

The dream shifts. The king leads me through secret staircases hidden behind and around rooms. We ascend through what I now realize is a castle. Along the way, we discover old books and ancient papers. Slowly, it becomes clear: this castle was once a stronghold for an opposing military force.

As we translate the papers, we learn these forces are still present, still making their way up through hidden channels. In the midst of this realization, I notice my pencil needs sharpening—a small, symbolic moment of needing clearer tools to process what's happening.

Suddenly, the enemy breaches the castle. We fight, even plunging into the waters beneath its lowest levels. Eventually, we return to the original room with the fireplace. There, we discover that the moving wall is actually a periscope—an observation tool, reaching up from the depths below.

Then something unexpected happens: someone enters the room. It’s a version of me—an old persona I once struggled with. And this time, instead of turning away, I embrace them. We hug. I welcome this version of myself back in with love, not fear.
