The First Ten to Fifteen

My visits and the schedule are often dictated by your animal companions and what they choose to experience and what their joy is. The first ten to fifteen minutes of every session is spent greeting, connecting and offering or receiving love.

It can look like me walking in and sitting in the entryway while the inhabitants choose who is going to connect with me first and allowing it to naturally flow. With some, it is a quicker greeting and a “you can talk to the others later” let’s go for a walk!

There is the duo that race from all corners of the house to where I am entering whilst they’re doing a happy doggy dance waiting for me to put down any stuff then racing me to the backdoor. They want to help me shake off the day and get down to some serious playtime! Many can identify your state of mind, emotions and/or physicality before you have even entered the house – and often want to help you clear it as quickly as possible if you’ll allow or accept the assistance often through a form of play.

While with still others, it is connecting, brushing or petting as this gives, he or she undivided attention as well as keeping us in a more present and focused state. Some level of this happens every visit.

With some often adding in a major sniffing experience as they take a gander at the scent smorgasbord that walked in – my shoes are the favorite whether cat or dog!

They greet you with such excitement, joy and love whether you are away for a couple of hours or a day. They teach us to give it our all - relish the experience and the connection each and every time.
